Burroughsシリーズの記念すべき100回目は、Burroughsと音楽のcollaborationの中でも傑作の一つ。The Doorsとのvirtual共演だ。

The Doorsへのtributeとremixのcompilationだ。内容は、

(1) The Doorsの曲をストレートにカバーしたもの
(2) The Doorsの演奏をremixしたもの
(3) The Doorsの演奏をremixした上で他のmusicianの音楽をoverdubしたもの

に分けられる。Burroughs参加曲はもちろん(3)。

Jim Morrisonは1971年に亡くなっているので、The Doors音源は当然昔のもの。しかしここで聴けるremixは、どれもよくできてる。

制作にはすごい時間をかけたようだ。おかげで、作品が完成する前に、Burroughsは亡くなってしまった（1997年）。

しかしその分、どの曲も丁寧な作りで、album全体の出来も素晴らしい。The Doorsへの愛情にあふれた曲ばかりだ。

これはThe Doorsの演奏（sampling & loop）をバックにBurroughsがThe Doors作詞の詞を朗読。

Backdoor Manの曲に、The Celebration of the Lizard (a.k.a. Lions in the Street)の歌詞が乗っかるhybridな曲だ。

これに、ところどころBurroughsが詞を加えている。

演奏の方も、

をベースにsamplingしてloopをかけてる（んだと思う）。だいぶいじってあるので、上記の演奏かどうか、あまり自信ないけど・・・。

これがよくできてる。Remixのloop具合も、Burroughsの朗読を突っ込むタイミングもすべてが完璧。

The Doorsの魅力もBurroughsの魅力も十二分に引き出している上に、remixのオリジナリティも十分発揮されている、という奇跡的な1曲だ。Burroughs朗読の中でも一級品の一つ。

じっくり時間をかけただけある。

とにかくもう、たまらん！これは！

これを聴くときは、いつも10回位繰り返し聴いてしまう。中毒性の非常に高いtrackだ。

このtrackはもちろんのこと、CD自体もほとんど知られていないが、もっと有名になってしかるべきalbumだ。是非探して聴いてほしい。

あたりが好き。Organ入れると俄然The Doorsっぽさが出るね。

17はThe Endを3/4で処理するという珍しいapproach。それにしてもThe Endの原曲は強力だ。これに真っ向から挑戦しているDays of the Newもすごいね。

ん？もしかすると、散らされているJim Morrisonの声以外、The Doorsの演奏は新録か？？それはそれで貴重。
